Anyone else surprised by the big loss today?
I'm completely stumped as to why they didn't just try and sell to someone else? They say it's about personal reasons, which way may never know. The thing about that though is that it wasn't a personal site, it wasn't just one person's site. It was a community. Like deviantart. If one of the owners of deviantart suddenly closed the doors and said "yeah, sorry, it's personal" would that be OK with everyone? Blows my mind! I wonder if they even considered selling.
I guess that kind of begs the question about when does something you create become everyone else's instead of yours? When everyone else is so invested, and you aren't anymore, should you just find a way to release it? I find that to be a very interesting question, indeed.
