Japanese class starts in the morning, only a few short hours away, and thank god for it. I'm so ready for something new that I hope this year blazes through faster than you can say "GO SPEED, GO!"
Actually, I'm quite looking forward to the summer so I can do some much needed cleaning. You could take that literally, as I've just moved into a new house, but I more so mean mental cleaning, as is my usual summer task for myself. However, I let a lot of things catch up with me this year and there's a hefty mound of trash to be taken out. I'm used to not letting people in entirely and keeping some sort of veil of mystery to my character, thoughts, and plans, whether they're ever aware of that or not. A sort of defense mechanism, I'm not sure, but more than definitely occasionally detrimental. Where most people make their resolutions for the year on January 1st, my schedule feeling sometimes like a professional student makes the year end and begin a new with the passing of each semester, and so I believe the time for resolve is the present. I'm going to begin with this summer as a launching point, and this coming and final year of college as a catalyst to give even more momentum, to clean up my life and push myself into the life I want and all the places I want to go. There are books and illustration jobs I have to work on that I'm going to use to learn from and blow through them until I'm proud of what I've accomplished and then I'll snap up whatever is next.
But, enough of that.
If you haven't watched Speed Racer then you're missing out on something mind blowing special. The reviews, if you've read them, are garbage. They claim it was no good, and mostly for all the reasons it was amazing! It reminds you not only about what its like to be a kid again (or how to enjoy yourself if you already are one) but also of what movies are supposed to be! This movie is no hour and a half sorry excuse for a plot because they want to stretch things across a 3 feature trilogy. No, this is a 2 and a half hour epic and most enjoyable trip through seizure town you'll probably of had up until the point of watching the movie. Unless, of course, your nights are filled with disco parties in which you pretend you're Tom Jones and Calrton from The Fresh Prince of Belair combined into one being, surrounded by Fraggles as you sip your technicolor tea sweetened with acid. In that case, kudos to you for reaching an enjoyable seizure town on your own, watch the movie anyways.
Ninjas and monkeys, the monkey possessing some of the best acting in the movie. That is all.
